When in San Clemente, we sometimes like to go to a very local place. We actually walked here to the SC Cafe from our house in about 5 minutes this morning. it is on El Camino Real just south of the 5 freeway on the west side of the road. if you blink, you will miss it. This place only seats about 13-15 small tables (2-4 people each) and is a favoriate hangout for surfers and locals. When we arrived, there was only one table open. The resteraunt is family run (Dad took our coffee order, son took our food order, daughter cleaned up the plates, dad took the money at the end).
I had French toast, eggs over medium, and sausage (and coffee). We had a good time... then walked the 527 yards back home again to do chores.

Rachels Birthday
Last night, we celebrated my youngest daughters 23rd birthday by going to her place of choice, Gullivers resteraunt in Newport Beach (actually, across the street from the Orange County Airport. This was John Wayne's favorite place to eat.
Three of us had the traditional Gullivers cut of prime rib, which also comes with creamed corn, creamed spinich and Yorkshire pudding. The photo shows my meal partly eaten, since I started eating in the excitement of the moment. It was a grand event, and a moment some great food. Happy Birthday Rachel.

Eggs Benedict
One of our favorate places to eat while at home is at "The Fisherman's" on the San Clemente pier.
One of my favorate meals is Eggs Benedict. After a nice walk with our friends Dwayne & Lisa Roberts, along the beach, we went to have breakfast. This is a photo of my breakfast, as well as the view from our table.

Chicken Cordon bleu - Romania, May 2008
One Sunday in Deva Romania, my Quartet, the Glory Gates Quartet sang a concert, and then after, we went out for a nice lunch at a local Romanian eating establishment. First, the delivered a salad... wow.. looked like something that should have been shared, but instead, everyone received a plate like this. For my meal I chose to eat some Chicken Cordon Bleu. It was very nicely prepaired.
Romanian Breakfast May, 2008
While in Bucharest Romania in May, 2008, we had several very nice meals. Here are some photos of my meals. This first photo is of Breakfast. In Romania, you cannot expect a traditional American breakfast. Instead, you get Bread, Cheese, cucumbers, ham, tomatos, and coffee, OH and a hard boiled egg was served at this hotel. it was all very good. even if non-traditional.

Food in China September 2007
During a business trip to China, I had the opportunity to try out many new foods. Dim sum was the main meal for the week (lunch and dinner). Breakfast (no photos included) was close to standard american food with fried eggs (actually overfried... rubbery), and bacon. I was not bold enough to eat the "greens" that the locals ate for breakfast. They looked like long blades of grass to me.
Lunch and dinner was always interesting as you can see above... many diffferent types of dim sum. We also had Chicken that looked rather bland (boiled) but actually was rather tastey... note the chicken head in the picture on the right... then look below, and you will see that it was not eaten, and neither were the feet.
